Religious Spaces
Religious Spaces as Learning Environments
The Explore a Sacred Space resource has been designed to promote religious literacy and interfaith dialogue. You can use the pedagogical model to carry out various learning processes in religious buildings or in other cultural learning environments, or use them in the classroom to study the significance of the objects in a church and in a mosque.
The tasks support holistic learning. Students are invited to explore the space and its objects with all senses, to share their thoughts and to deepen their understanding of the space and the community that uses it. They also learn cultural and environmental awareness, including the ability to interpret material (e.g. buildings and artefacts) and immaterial culture (e.g. actions and traditions).
